When you think of mission trips, you probably picture traveling to distant lands, serving in impoverished communities, or constructing homes and churches. While these are powerful ways to serve, mission trips are ultimately about one thing—bringing the love of Christ to those who need it most.
At Advance the Faith, our mission trips focus on an often-overlooked group: foster children in group homes. These trips aren’t just about providing resources or organizing activities; they’re about building relationships, sharing the love of Christ, and reminding these children that they are seen, known, and loved.
What Is a Mission Trip?
A mission trip is an intentional journey to serve others, demonstrating Christ’s love in both word and action. It is an opportunity to step outside of our daily routines and answer God’s call to go where He sends us.
In Isaiah 6:8, the prophet Isaiah responds to God’s call by saying:
“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’”
This verse embodies the heart of a mission trip—a willingness to be used by God, to step into the lives of others, and to bring hope where it’s needed most.

Why Our Mission Trips Matter
Foster children in group homes often experience deep feelings of abandonment, instability, and uncertainty about their future. Many have been moved from home to home, making it difficult to build trust or experience consistent love. Our mission trips seek to bridge this gap, offering not only practical support but also spiritual and emotional encouragement.
Through our trips, we aim to:
- Show them they are not forgotten – Every child deserves to feel seen and valued.
- Build trust through relationships – We take time to listen, encourage, and create safe spaces for them to share their stories.
- Share the Gospel in a meaningful way – We don’t just preach—we live out Christ’s love through our presence, conversations, and actions.
- Create lasting impact – Our goal isn’t just a one-time visit; we strive for ongoing connections that make a difference.
Where We Serve and What We Do
Advance the Faith serves in multiple locations, ensuring that children and young adults receive both spiritual and practical support:
Nassau, Bahamas – We serve at Ranfurly Home and Elizabeth Estates Children’s Home, where we hold life camps designed to prepare the youth for a successful future. We also meet with alumni to provide guidance and maintain our lasting relationships.
Cat Island, Bahamas – We serve at Old Bight Mission Home, where we host camps focused on teaching children about Jesus, providing life skills training, and creating a fun environment. In addition to these activities, we carry out routine maintenance projects, such as painting and repairs/upgrades on outdoor equipment to improve their living spaces.
Will You Answer the Call?
Just as Isaiah responded to God’s call with “Here am I. Send me!”, we invite you to do the same. Mission trips are not just about what we can give, but also about what God does in us when we step out in faith.
You can be part of this mission by:
- Joining a trip – Experience firsthand the joy of serving foster children and making a lasting impact.
- Praying – Lift up these children in prayer, asking God to heal, restore, and guide their lives.
- Giving – Support our mission financially to help provide resources and expand our outreach.
Every mission trip is an opportunity to Advance the Faith and share Christ’s love in a tangible way. Are you ready to say, “Here am I, send me”? Read more about our mission trip opportunities and apply here: Mission Trips – Advance the Faith
